The Middle Ages are often referred to as the Dark Ages for Western Europe, but for many empires in the world were flourishing. The African Empires pre and post Caliphate. The following are some of the many you-tube videos that can be used in addition to the textbook and source readings.

Unit 3 Part Two: Western and Eastern Europe
The Post Classical Period in Europe differed from East to West. The political structure, religion, economy, military, and trade influenced the areas recovering from the Fall of the Roman Empire. The Western half of the Roman Empire is described by some historians as entering a Dark Age. Meanwhile the Byzantine Empire flourishes. Below is the Unit Outline that includes the vocabulary students will need to know and have to use effectively. Different activities will revolve around the vocabulary and/or the focus questions.
