Unit 4: African Empires & Caliphates
The Middle Ages are often referred to as the Dark Ages for Western Europe, but for many empires in the world were flourishing. The African Empires pre and post Caliphate. The following are some of the many you-tube videos that can be used in addition to the textbook and source readings.

Unit 5: Western and Eastern Europe The Roman Empire was collapsing during the 5th century and the empire was divided into two. The Western Empire descended into a period known as the Dark Ages, while historians argue that the Eastern Empire flourished.
